US Power Plant Generation & Fuel (EIA

What every US power plant actually generated and burned, per year - the realised-output companion to our EIA-860 generator registry. From EIA's Form EIA-923 (facility fuel), the annual plant-total view: one clean row per (plant × year) with net and gross generation (MWh), total fuel consumption (MMBtu) and the share consumed for electricity - plant name, state and EIA plant code on every row. Join it to us-power-plant-generators on plant code to turn nameplate capacity into actual output (capacity factors, utilisation). Public domain.

Safe to train on

Built only from a named, redistributable official source under a documented open licence - not scraped web data. No copyright grey zone, no personal data. Ships machine-readable Croissant metadata (ML Commons - loads in Hugging Face / Kaggle / Google), an AI training-licence manifest documenting source, licence and provenance for your model's data governance, and a machine-readable data dictionary (drop it into an agent / RAG prompt so the model knows every column) - all inspectable before you buy.

What's included

  • Annual net + gross generation (MWh) for every US plant - one clean row per plant × year
  • Total fuel consumption (MMBtu) + share consumed for electricity
  • EIA plant code + name + state; joins us-power-plant-generators (EIA-860) for capacity factors
  • The realised-output layer under our US generation-by-fuel series
  • Audiences: energy analysts, ESG/climate-risk, grid/utility, infra investors
  • Public domain (U.S. EIA, Form EIA-923) - free commercial reuse & resale
  • Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration - EIA-923 facility fuel & generation
