There is an enormous amount of valuable open data in the world. There is also an enormous amount of work between that data and a clean dataframe you can trust. ReadySet does that work - once, properly - and sells you the result.
The problem
Open data is free to download and expensive to use. A typical source means pagination and rate limits, nested XML or inconsistent JSON, timezone and DST traps, unit mismatches, and gaps that are absences rather than nulls. For one non-trivial source that is days of engineering - and it recurs every time the upstream changes.
What we do
We pull from named, redistributable open-data sources, then clean, normalise, document and quality-check the result. Every dataset has one documented grain, UTC timestamps, deduplicated rows, gap handling, a data dictionary and a QC report - delivered as fast columnar Parquet. You start at the analysis, not the parser.
The licensing filter
The single most important decision we make is which sources we can build on at all. We only use data with a redistributable licence - CC-BY, public domain, open government and similar. Exchange feeds, non-commercial-only and unlicensed sources never make the catalog, no matter how good the numbers. Where upstream requires attribution, it passes through to you, documented on every product page.
