Licence
This page describes how you may use a Product you have purchased or downloaded under an All-Access subscription.
Your rights as a buyer
When you buy a Product individually you receive a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual licence to:
- use the data for internal analysis, research and modelling;
- incorporate the data into your own work, reports and applications;
- use the data commercially, subject to the upstream attribution below.
All-Access tiers - what the tier actually licenses
Every purchase - a single file or a subscription - already lets you use the data commercially (see above); that right comes from the open-source licence and we don't gate it. The All-Access tiers instead scope who may use the ReadySet service and how far the feeds may travel inside your organisation:
- Personal (€79) - licensed to one individual: your own projects, research, learning, trading and freelance analysis, commercial or not. One person, one account, one API key.
- Commercial / Team (€249) - licensed for a company or team: multiple people in your organisation may use it, and you may integrate the ReadySet feeds into the internal tools and commercial products your organisation ships. It does not grant the right to repackage or resell our cleaned catalogue as a competing data service (see the reselling note below and Terms §10).
So: an individual building internal models needs only single-file purchases or Personal; a business standardising on our feeds across a team, or embedding them in a product it ships, needs Commercial / Team.
Downloads remain licensed after your subscription ends; new downloads require an active subscription.
You buy the convenience layer - the cleaning, normalisation, packaging and documentation. We do not claim ownership of the underlying facts, which are open data.
Upstream open-data licences pass through
Every Product is built from a named, redistributable open-data source. Where the upstream source requires attribution (for example CC-BY-4.0), that obligation passes through to you. Each Product page and the included data dictionary state the source and the required attribution.
In practice, that means: when you publish work built on a Product, credit the original source as documented (and, optionally, ReadySet). Public-domain / CC0 Products carry no attribution requirement.
What legally binds you
Only two things, and both come from the upstream source licence, not from us:
- Preserve the upstream attribution where the source requires it (e.g. CC-BY). This obligation passes through to you.
- Don't imply that ReadySet or the upstream source endorses your work.
Reselling - and what "public domain" actually means
You may resell analysis, models, dashboards and reports built on a Product - your work is yours. On the data itself, we won't pretend to grant or restrict more than the source licence does:
- Public-domain / CC0 Products (most US-government data, and more): the underlying facts carry no redistribution restriction at all. Legally you may do anything with that data, including redistribute the file - and we neither can nor do claim otherwise. What you pay us for is the *cleaning and convenience*, not a licence to the facts.
- CC-BY and similar Products: you may redistribute the data, but must preserve the upstream attribution and licence - that obligation is real and passes through.
The one thing we ask - as goodwill, explicitly *not* a legal claim over public-domain facts - is that you don't take our exact cleaned files and stand them up as a mirror catalogue competing with ours. You bought the convenience; please don't resell the convenience itself. Everything else, build freely.
